Scheduled Maintenance on our Windows Shared hosting server

As a continuation of the PHP changes mentioned here, we are proceeding with the PHP soft upgrades for the websites. 

What happens in this stage?

For each website running on an older version of PHP, the PHP version will be set to the highest version of PHP (i.e. version 8.0). After this, a test will be carried out to check if the site is working correctly. If yes, that version will be maintained. If not, then a similar test will be tried out on the next highest version of PHP(i.e. version 7.4). This process will keep continuing till a stable website is reached. It is possible that a website is not stable on any of the higher versions. In that case, the original version will be retained.

What will be the impact?

It will not take more than a minute per website to figure out the exact supported PHP version for your website. You might notice your website’s PHP version getting changed to the latest supported PHP version. 

What needs to be done?

After this maintenance, please verify the PHP versions set for your website. If your websites are still running on any of the older versions of PHP (PHP v5.3, 5.4, 5.5, 5.6, 7.0, 7.1, 7.2) then it’s time to update the website code to work with the latest versions i.e., PHP versions above 7.3. We will remove the binary of older PHP versions by the end of this month.
