Changes to the Auto-Renewal System

Posted on 30th September, 2021

Dear customer,

The Reserve Bank of India has enforced changes to the way recurring transactions are handled by banks and payment processors. These changes will come into effect from October 1st and will affect the auto-renewal of your products and services with us.

Please read on to understand if this affects you.

What's changing

Starting October 1st, banks must send a pre-debit notification for all recurring transactions. Additionally, for your safety, an authentication through an OTP will be required for bill amounts greater than Rs 5,000.

We are currently working closely with banks and payment processors to comply with the new regulatory guidelines.

How this affects you

While banks and payment processors work on making these changes, we will not be able to process auto-renewal transactions using your credit card on file with us.

To ensure uninterrupted service, we recommend that you renew your orders manually, even if they are set to auto-renew in the system.

Please note, for the time being, you will also not be able to enable auto-renewal using a credit card for any of your orders.

As soon as the necessary changes are implemented, we will re-enable the processing of auto-renewal requests using credit cards.

Additionally, we are working on implementing alternatives to credit-cards for processing auto-renewal requests and will share further updates once these solutions are in place.
